Managing the Sky Vision Stand at MIPTV and MIPCOM 2013-2019
Most content owners visiting MIPTV or MIPCOM have a stand as a base, but these need to be more than just places to sit and have a chat about new programming. A stand at Cannes needs to embody your corporate and lead content brands, provide comfortable and functional working spaces for the team, embrace the latest technology, and be inviting and welcoming to visitors.
Mandy Lawn oversaw the Sky Vision stand for six years, moving it to a new location in the Riviera building and doubling its size during the first year. She worked closely with the stand builders to create a contemporary and flexible stand that was on-brand, impactful and used the space effectively. For every new market, the stand was reappraised and updated to incorporate what was needed – from more meeting space as the team grew, to introducing in-built static screens that worked with Sky Vision’s new viewing app. Mandy worked with A/V and tech suppliers, plus Sky’s internal tech team, to test and sync everything in advance and ensure the sales team always had everything they needed, without affecting the clean lines and aesthetics of the stand.
The flexible nature of the stand also proved key when it was required to showcase an exhibition element linked to a programme launch – such as Battlebots, or house interactive elements for clients to engage with – such as with Curfew. Mandy’s knowledge of the stand, key content and the desired outputs, always ensured these additions were executed with flair and no disruption to business. She was also responsible for bringing Sky’s #PassOnPlastic campaign to Cannes, banning single use plastic on the stand, sourcing alternatives and policing implementation.
An unsurpassed knowledge of The Palais des Festivals and local suppliers, plus excellent working relationships with stand builders and the extended team at Reed Midem ensured Mandy consistently delivered market stand-out for Sky Vision and was instrumental to the company’s continued success and high-profile at MIPTV and MIPCOM, until its acquisition by NBCU.
